Colossal Pinky Toe of Nero, Etching, 2010

The Monumental fragments of Italian sculpture in Rome have inspired several of my recent prints. "Colossal Pinky Toe of Nero" is inspired by the large foot fragment in the courtyard of the Capitoline Museum. According to legend, a colossal statue of the malicious Roman Emperor Nero once stood where the coliseum stands today. This is my vision of a fragment of this sculpture. This print was etched using an electrolytic etching system at Kansas State University.
